WELCOME!
Aston St Mary’s is a school at the heart of its community..
‘This excellent Church school lives out its deeply rooted Christian vision, shining like a beacon within the community.’
SIAMS June 2023
A warm welcome to Aston St Mary’s Church of England Primary School website.
We are a small village church school, with approximately 130 pupils on roll from Reception to Year 6. Our small size, combined with our embedded Christian values ensures that every child is treasured and are growing surrounded by God’s love. Christian values, along with our British values, support achievement and respect through our broad and balanced curriculum, as well as the wider curriculum. We encourage the spiritual, moral and cultural development of our children through this broad curriculum and place a high importance on children becoming excellent citizens of the wider world, who use their Christian values to guide them.
Our pupils achieve well and enjoy learning because we provide a rich and broad curriculum, where pupils learn from a carefully planned sequenced curriculum. On the class pages you will see the long-term plans for each class. The curriculum overviews can be found on ‘Our Curriculum’ page. If you browse the newsletters and class pages of our website, you will see examples of our pupils’ learning.
Aston St Mary’s is a school at the heart of its community, and we make the most of our links to the church, which we visit at least termly for whole school services and use as a resource for learning. Our minister, Jenny Gray leads worship on a regular basis. We have strong links to the village preschool and to the secondary schools in Stevenage, ensuring good transitions for our pupils. We have also developed strong links with the village, enjoying the opportunities it offers for the enrichment of learning and to join in with community events and celebrations.
