Great Athlete Visit – Steve Frew (27.11.24)

On Wednesday 27th November, we were very excited to welcome Steve Frew (a Commonwealth Games Gymnastics Gold medalist) into school. During the afternoon, each year group participated in a challenging and motivating fitness circuit led by Steve. Many of us collected sponsorship for this which will be used to enhance our PE resources in school.

At the end of the afternoon, the whole school came together for an inspirational assembly. In this, we learnt about the hard work and dedication that Steve put in over many years in order to achieve his dream. He talked about setbacks along the way and his determination to keep working towards his ultimate goal. We were encouraged to think about our own goals and aspirations and to be ambitious about what might be possible with focus, effort, determination and passion.

Steve presented some special awards to children who stood out to him during the fitness circuits. Ava received a ‘Never Give Up’ wristband; Joe received ‘Keep on Trying’ and Finn ‘Believe in Yourself’.

At the end of the assembly, we were delighted to see Steve perform some gymnastic skills as he leapt over Teddy, Ethan, Mrs Winwood and Miss Branagan to perform an impressive forward roll!
