In Danes, we have been learning about Peter Thorpe. We looked at many of his rocket paintings, observing the use of colour in the background and foreground before having a go creating our own oil pastel pictures linked to space.
To explore different techniques for our backgrounds, we split out page into six and experimented to see which designs we wanted to incorporate into our final pieces.
We then got to work on our final outcomes paying close attention to the impact we wanted our pieces to have – contrasting backgrounds and foregrounds or ones which blended in with each other. The exciting ways Peter Thorpe uses colour really inspired us to create these masterpieces:
