Brave and Beautiful Britain

This term, our topic ‘Brave and Beautiful Britain’ will develop our historical and geographical understanding.

We will learn about the Second World War and, in particular, about The Battle of Britain – a key turning point in British history. We are looking forward to visiting the Imperial War Museum Duxford where we will be able to visit the Battle of Britain hangar to see some of the British and German planes as well as experience what it would have been like inside an Anderson shelter. We will also visit the Land Warfare exhibition to learn about the D-Day landings.

Later in the term, we will develop our mapping skills with a focus on the British Isles. This will include learning about OS map symbols, grid references, contour lines, scale and direction. We will then apply our skills to compare contrasting UK localities.
