We enjoyed our challenge to design and make a Moon Buggy or Mars Rover. First, we needed to research these vehicles to learn about their features and functions. Next, we learnt how to make a sturdy chassis using a Jinx framework.
After this, we designed our own vehicles and produced annotated drawings of our ideas. We found making the vehicles quite tricky, especially as they were to be powered by an electric motor. We had to overcome lots of problems in order to get our vehicles moving! Having completed our vehicles, we tested them out on the hall floor – some of ours were really whizzy!
Finally, we wrote detailed evaluations in which we reflected upon how well we had met the design criteria and what we had learnt including the problems we met along the way and how we overcame these.
