DT: World War Two Shelters (29.11.24)

As part of our learning in design and technology, we have worked in groups to design and make a Second World War Shelter. We learnt how to construct a jinx framework in order to ensure a strong structure. We had two design criteria:

  • Our shelter needed to be strong – to withstand bombing!
  • Our shelter needed to look authentic.

Throughout the day we were assessed on: our ability to work as a team; to use time and materials efficiently and to keep our work space clean and tidy.

In order to evaluate our shelters we tested them by dropping a tennis ball from an increasing height we also discussed how authentic each design was. All of our shelters proved to be very strong and we are very proud of them.
