Raye Montague, a trail-blazing engineer, has been the focus of our English learning for Maths Week. We spent the week learning about her incredible achievements as well as the set-backs she encountered throughout her life through Julia Finley Mosca’s book ‘The Girl With a Mind for Math: The Story of Raye Montague’. Our learning journey began by exploring new vocabulary and concepts such as segregation and the Civil Rights Movement in America.
We then memorised and recited the entire story – we hope you enjoy listening to our performance.
We ended the week by creating some eye-catching double-page spreads to showcase our learning in a visual and informative way. She’s certainly inspired us to persevere and not let glass ceilings stop us from achieving our dreams.
