French: Remembrance day (November 2025)

Danes class made a Remembrance Day wreath in their French lesson out of cornflowers (‘les bleuets’). They learnt that after World War One ‘les bleuets’ continued to grow on land destroyed by trench warfare. The term ‘bleuets’ was also given to newly-recruited French soldiers whose uniforms were an iconic blue colour.

The children learnt that nowadays the flowers are sold and worn on November 11 in France and the money raised supports war veterans and their families.
