Geography: Everybody’s Earth (Spring 2026)

In Geography, we have completed our theme ‘Everybody’s Earth. We began our learning by considering settlements and where they are located – in the past and today. We designed our own modern day settlement thinking about what people need e.g. local amenities, good transport links and internet access.

We then moved on to consider where our power comes from. We learnt about renewable and non-renewable energy and annotated maps to show where some UK power stations are located.

Our TREES enquiry related to the food that we enjoy. We were surprised to find out about how far some of our food travels to reach our local supermarket. We learnt the terms ‘import’ and ‘export’ and considered the advantages and disadvantages of sourcing our food from around the world.

Having learnt that different countries have different natural resources and expertise, we looked at what is meant by ‘trade’; we learnt that the UK trades with countries all over the world – we showed some of these on a world map. We then explored the positive impacts of Fair Trade and produced an informative leaflet.
