History: Thomas Clarkson and the Transatlantic Slave Trade

This term in history, we have been learning about the Transatlantic Slave Trade and about Thomas Clarkson who devoted his life to campaigning to abolish the trading of enslaved human beings. There is a memorial to Thomas Clarkson not far from our school in the village of Wadesmill (he used to stop there regularly on his way to London). We have been shocked to learn about how people were treated and about how many people were involved; this has prompted some powerful debate and discussion.
