Recently, we have been developing our geometric reasoning in maths.
We began by looking at properties of polygons and investigating quadrilaterals. Learning about diagonals helped us to deepen our understanding as we explored whether the diagonals bisected the shape and if the diagonals intersected at right-angles.

Our understanding of the properties of 2D shapes supported our learning when we moved onto 3D shapes. We learnt about the meaning of faces, edges and vertices and then played ‘Guess the 3D Shape’.

Then, we learnt about the nets of 3D shapes. Drawing these required a great level of precision and accuracy. We explored a variety of nets: cubes, cuboids, prisms and pyramids.

Our learning today was great fun – we created our very own 3D shapes!
