Our Year 2 and Year 3 children have been busy building a brand new skill this term — touch typing! They’ve been using Purple Mash’s 2Type programme, which is a fun and colourful way to learn how to type properly without looking down at the keyboard.
The children have been learning not just which fingers go where, but also how to set themselves up for success. That means sitting up straight, feet flat on the floor, wrists off the keyboard, and eyes on the screen — tricky at first, but they’re getting the hang of it!
We’ve loved seeing how determined they’ve been. Each lesson, the children fill in their own scoring sheets to track how they’re doing, and it’s been brilliant watching them challenge themselves to beat their last score. There’s been lots of cheering, encouragement, and proud smiles around the room!
Touch typing is such a useful skill to have, especially as we all use computers more and more. We’re so proud of how hard Year 2 and 3 have been working on this, and we can already see some future typing champions in the making!
Well done everyone — keep those fingers flying!
