We have started the new year with a BANG, CRASH and ZAP as we have been learning all about superheroes! We started off by reading ‘There’s a superhero in your book’ by Tom Fletcher and created our own superhero secret identities! We thought about what kinds of super powers we might have and thought of our own super name. We even made masks and choose and created our own capes.
Next we read a really exciting story – ‘Supertato’ by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet. We have loved this story and particularly enjoyed when Evil Pea escaped the book and came to cause havoc in our classroom! He hid many of the vegetables around our room and we spent time searching for them. During child initiated learning we checked them off on a tens frame grid and used our phonics to label which ones we had found. We also wrote words, phrases and simple sentences to describe Evil Pea and Supertato.
