As the new school year begins, we have been holding elections across the school to choose this year’s school councillors. These elections gave every child the opportunity to take part in a democratic process, learning about responsibility, representation, and the importance of pupil voice within our school community. We are delighted to announce that nine children have now been elected to represent their peers and act as the voice of their year groups.

Today, we had the privilege of welcoming our local Member of Parliament, Kevin Bonavia, to present badges and certificates to our newly elected school council. He spoke about his own experience of being part of a school council and explained how it inspired him to pursue a career in politics, where he now represents a much larger community as an MP. Kevin also shared insights into how the UK political system works and gave pupils a fascinating glimpse into life in the House of Commons.

We are extremely proud of everyone who stood in the elections and are excited to see the positive impact our school council will have this year as they represent their classmates, contribute ideas, and help shape school life for everyone.
