Story Telling Evening

In February 2015 , a storytelling evening took place at school. Approximately 120 people attended this event, and the feedback we received was excellent with everyone thoroughly enjoying it and looking forward to the next one.

There were 5 different stories being told, with all of them having India as their theme. The teachers dressed up and used props to retell stories and involve the children. Parents and children moved around the school and experienced each story. There was also a competition room where children and parents had to guess the title of the book from illustrations. Adults and children were asked to write the name of their favourite book and give reasons why they liked it. Prizes were handed out at the end of the evening. Following the storytelling, everyone gathered in the hall and settled down in their sleeping bags and blankets for hot chocolate and biscuits. Then our school links partner told another Indian story with actions, and everyone was invited to join in (even the teachers!).

It was a great evening and we even raised £104.70 from donations, which will be used to help buy a computer for our link school. St Mary’s in the Singla Valley, Darjeeling. So everyone benefitted from this extremely well attended evening. Thank you to everyone who came, and to the teachers and support staff for all their hard work. This evening was designed to promote a love of reading and sharing of books for all. We will be looking to do more events in the future, so watch this space!!
