Today Danes class took part in the K’nex challenge which is taking place in 100 schools across Hertfordshire. This year’s challenge involved designing and building a crane to lift a bucket of weights. Different types of crane were considered and discussed.
The children worked in pairs to meet the following design criteria:
- the crane had to have at least one moving part (either a lever, a pulley or gears)
- the crane needed to be strong and sturdy and be able to lift a weight
Points were scored for teamwork, problem solving, meeting the design criteria and additional points were added for any extra features.
Well done to Abbie and Alex for being our class winners!
