Puddlebridge have been developing their computing and design skills using Purple Mash’s 2Design and Make tool, which allowed us to explore 3D modelling.
Having used the software previously in Maths, we used the first lesson to remind us of the key features of the programme and discovered how it can be used to design buildings. We explored different viewpoints and experimented with adding repeating patterns using the Pattern Fill tool. We quickly saw how our creative choices could bring our designs to life from every angle!

Next, we focused on the ‘Moving Points’ feature, using it to adapt vehicle models by adjusting their shapes. This helped develop our understanding of how digital models are constructed and how changing points affects form and structure.

Puddlebridge were then given a design brief to create 3D packaging for an item of our choice. We carefully considered the purpose of our design and explored how to edit polygon models to suit specific needs. It was fantastic to see everyone’s imagination and practical thinking come together in our creations.

Finally, we refined our models in preparation for printing. We printed our designs as 2D nets and carefully assembled them into 3D models. This helped to reinforce the link between digital design and real-world application.
