Progression of MFL

Progression of MFL (French)

In year 3, children are introduced to speaking French for the first time. In Year 4, children learn to communicate by asking and answering a wider range of questions, using longer phrases and sentences.  In Year 5, children take part in short conversations using sentences and familiar vocabulary. In Year 6, children use spoken language to initiate and sustain simple conversations on familiar topics from their own experience.
