In Year 3, children are introduced to speaking French for the first time. They learn to speak with others using simple words, phrases and short sentences (e.g. greetings and basic information about myself). Over the year, they build their confidence by speaking aloud familiar words or short phrases in chorus. They learn to use correct pronunciation when speaking and start to see links between pronunciation and spelling.
