In art, we have been practising our observational drawing skills by drawing poppies of Remembrance. This built upon our previous learning about how to create texture and depth in our drawings using shade and tone. We then explored the use of watercolours to produce some beautiful outcomes.
In English, we have been reading war poetry including ‘In Flanders Fields’. We also read a beautiful book called ‘Where the Poppies Now Grow’ by Hilary Robinson and Martin Impey. We used the book and the poems as stimuli to write our own cinquain poems of remembrance.
