OUR CURRICULUM

Every child is a treasure – small in size, growing in God’s love

At Aston St. Mary’s this means, we provide an abundance of varied opportunities to develop a love of learning and prepare all in our school community for a life in which they will make the right choices and set themselves ambitious goals. Through valuing the holistic nature of every person, we develop happy, fulfilled and healthy individuals.

At Aston St. Mary’s, we offer a creative, broad and balanced curriculum to promote a love of life-long learning and personal development. In addition to following the requirements of 2014 National Curriculum, and Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, we enrich children’s learning through exciting cross-curricular topic work, outdoor learning (including our own forest school) and a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and educational visits.

These visits are planned to support and enhance learning across the curriculum. Recent trips have included Duxford RAF museum, West Stow Anglo-Saxon village, The British Museum, a trip to the seaside and Paradise Wildlife Park. In addition to these day visits, children in Years 5 and 6 attend a five day residential trip where they tackle a range of outdoor and adventurous activities.

THE ASTON ADVENTURES

As part of our broad and balanced curriculum, we appreciate the importance of our children experiencing the joys of childhood and creating happy memories, whilst learning about the world around us and becoming active citizens.
