This term, Haffydown have explored the different ways to measure, using a range of different instruments. Our practical lessons have included pouring, weighing, estimating and counting with meter sticks, rulers, scales, liquids, money and time. Our favourite part was making our own capacity scales to understand litres and millilitres. We poured water from one container to the other, to see if the shape of a container had an impact on the volume of liquid it could hold.
One of the most memorable learning moments we had, was the moment in which we realised why a kilogram of feathers would weigh the same as a kilogram of lead. We went home to try and trick our parents and carers with the question! We learnt to record using kg, g, l, ml, Celsius, m, ml, £, p, hours and minutes.
