Money Containers – Textiles in DT

In Design Technology this half term, we fired up our creativity as we designed and made our own money containers. We started off exploring a wide range of different purses and wallets, and discussed what we liked and disliked about each one. We considered the features that made each money container successful or unsuccessful and then applied these ideas to our own plans. We drew a pattern of the money container we wanted to make and discovered the different stitches that could be used. We had a wonderful, relaxing day learning to sew and building on our existing skills to join materials together. We used running stitch for the applique on the front and blanket stitch for a secure edging stitch. We used our new popper machine to attach colourful poppers as the finishing detail on the front flap. We are so pleased with our own purses and wallets! What do you think?
